Mary M. Helmuth

KALONA - Mary M. Helmuth, 90, of Kalona, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a short illness.

      Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Sharon Bethel Church in Rural Kalona with Delmar Bontrager, Gabriel Beachy, Jacob Yoder, and Lamar Ropp officiating. Burial will be in the North Gingerich Cemetery in rural Kalona. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the family present from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Sharon Bethel Church. Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.

      Mrs. Helmuth was born June 12, 1918, in Yoder, Kan., the daughter of Harvey C. and Mary (Fry) Miller. She married John C. Helmuth on Oct. 16, 1941, in Kalona.
