Mary M. Torpey

VINTON ? Mary Madonna (Ryan) Torpey, 95, of Deltona, Fla., formerly of Vinton, died Saturday, June 20, 2015.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 27, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Vinton. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the church. Burial will follow the services, in the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Bishop Sullivan Center, 6535 Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64126.

Mrs. Torpey was born May 27, 1920, the daughter of William and Stella (Kuehn) Ryan. She married William Torpey on Jan. 3, 1942, in DeWitt.

She graduated from DeWitt High School in 1937.

Surviving are three sons, Dale and wife JoAnn of Washington, Tom and wife Wendy of Deland, Fla., and Dan and wife Kim of Parkville, Mo.; one daughter, Nancy Jeffreys and husband Emery of Orange City, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1966; one son, Phillip, in 1975; and one grandson.
