MARY MCLERAN MILLER
Golden Valley, Minn.
Mary McLeran Miller of Golden Valley, Minn., died peacefully in Edina, Minn.,
on Nov. 18, 2019, at the age
of 75.
Mary is survived by her husband, Jimmy Miller of Golden Valley, Minn.; children, Cynthia Miller of Portland, Melissa Harless of Black Hawk, Colo., and Nathan Miller of Golden Valley, Minn.; and her brother, Robert McLeran of Merritt Island, Fla.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Florence McLeran, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Mary was born on April 24, 1944, in Mount Pleasant, to Harold and Florence McLeran. She graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College, then the University of Iowa with a masters degree in 1967. Mary married Jimmy Miller in 1968 and moved to DeWitt, Iowa. Mary worked as a secondary math teacher in the DeWitt high school before moving to Italy and working for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools. She taught math and home economics at Sigonella Naval Air Station in Sicily from 1992 to 2000. After Sigonella, she transferred and worked as a math coordinator and teacher at Vicenza Army Base in Vicenza, Italy, from 2000 to 2014.
Mary was active in the T.T.T. and P.E.O. chapters in DeWitt before moving overseas. She loved the outdoors and was an active member of the Girl Scouts, leading scouts to the Girl Scout Chalet in Switzerland. Mary loved travel, hiking and road biking throughout the Italian countryside. She loved teaching and spending time with her friends, family and grandchildren.
