Mary Nau, 59, of St. Augustine, Fla. died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine.

A private service is planned at the Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine.

Mrs. Nau was born in Etowah, Ark. to James and Lois Carpenter. She was married to Evan Deane Nau. She moved to St. Augustine from Wixom, Mich., and resided there since 1992. She was the founder of the Wixom Historical Society and was a strong supporter of Friends of the Library.

Survivors include her parents of Jonesboro, Ark.; her husband of St. Augustine; a daughter, Leslie Sheffield of Wixom, Mich.; two sons, Evan Deane Nau, Jr. of Manchester, Mich., and Roy Lee Nau of Howell, Mich.; two sisters, Martha Like of Millington, Tenn., and Lawanda Rodebush of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Douglas Carpenter of Cordova, Tenn., Dan Carpenter of Shelbina, Mo., and Mike Carpenter of Novelty, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
