Mary Sue Coffin
Lyndon, IL
Mary Sue Coffin passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Lyndon, IL, after a long battle with dementia.
Mary Sue Wilson was born February 7, 1943, in Phoenixville, PA, to Lawrence and Anna Frances Wilson (Olinger). After high school, Sue graduated from beauty school and worked with and for Elaine Young for many years in Washington, IA. She married Jerry Coffin on February 9, 1964, in Ainsworth, IA. They raised three children, moving to Washington, Brighton and then Iowa City. Finally they made their home in Lyndon, IL, where they made many lifelong friends who they considered family. There is so much that we could say about mom, but those who knew her honestly don’t need reminding! She’s now dancing with Dad (and whoever else is willing) drinking a glass of cheap box wine (or beer) and more than likely doing a few butt checks, cause that’s what made her happy!
Sue leaves behind her three children, Wendy Miller, Lance Coffin and Shelly Moore (Marty); grandchildren, Brent Miller, Megan (Ott) Miller, Jericha Woods, Ashley Alvarado, Dakota Moore and Jerid Coffin; and several great-grandchildren, grand-dogs, cats and her kitty, “Kit." Also wanting to recognize her brothers, Jim Wilson, Bill Wilson, and her foster brother, the late Steve Woods.
There will be a short service at the Lyndon Cemetery at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bear’s Showtown U.S.A. in Lyndon afterwards. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home in Prophetstown.
If anyone would like to make a donation in mom’s name to the Lyndon Fire Dept. it would be greatly appreciated.
