Mary Virginia Raines

Mary Virginia Raines, 88, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died at 7:13 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Parkview Home in Wayland.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14 at Weir and Kimzey Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Dr. Edward R. Peterson of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Survivors include a son, Thomas and his wife Sandy Raines of Hurley, N.M.; a daughter, Kay Townsend of Burlington; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Gladys Surratt of Springfield, Ill., Aline and her husband Dan Lacey of LaPuente, Calif.; and Liz and her husband Dale Lape of Danville, Ill.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Paul, Huston and Harry Gribbins and an infant brother; and four sisters, Janie Kroll, Bernice Harry, Alta Meister and an infant sister.
