Mason Simons
Mason Simons
Fairfield
Mason Simons, age 29, died on October 19, 2025, under the care and control of the Iowa Department of Corrections, where he desperately required mental health care that he deserved, but did not receive, despite multiple pleas for some.
Mason was born and raised in Fairfield where at times he would drift to surrounding areas to chase his dreams. Mason loved chopping wood, doing construction, but most importantly loved to work on vehicles as he had a need for speed; which you can verify with any police department in Southeast Iowa.
Mason had a passion for helping others and loved to make everyone laugh. If he knew you were alone on a holiday he would make sure to visit and bring you food. Mason loved the outdoors and wild adventures that typically consisted of a body of water, fishing, tubing, camping and campfires. He had a passion for motorcycles, dirt bikes, four wheelers, pretty much anything with a motor, and knew every gravel road and mud road in Southeast Iowa.
Mason will be missed deeply by his parents Chris and Carrie Simons, brother Zachary Simons, brother Saban Simons, sister TeAnna Simons, brother Elijah Simons, sister Aleya Simons, brother Kylor Simons, several bonus siblings, grandmother Connie Simons, grandfather Frank Wright, 6 aunts, 5 uncles, lots of cousins, 4 nephews and 2 nieces.
He is preceded in death by his uncle Joey Wheeler, grandfather Kenneth Simons, grandmother Deborah Wright, and grandfather Larry Wheeler.
Mason will continue to live amongst us as he was an organ donor and was able to donate his organs to several recipients. Mason would be proud to know he has helped others live a longer life.
A memorial service to honor his life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the New Living Family Foursquare Church in Fairfield, IA. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow the service at the Fairfield VFW. Memorial contributions in Mason's honor may be directed to the family and mailed c/o Cranston Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 189, Fairfield, IA 52556. Friends may leave online condolences at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
