Maude Adkisson
Maude Adkisson, 92, of Donnellson Health Center in Donnellson, died at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at the health center.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Sharon Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Richard Eis officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery in rural Farmington. Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 at the Hofbauer Funeral Home in Donnellson, with family present from 7 to 8 p.m. A memorial to the Sharon Presbyterian Church has been established.
Mrs. Adkisson was born on Aug. 15, 1910, in rural Farmington, the daughter of John and Maggie Robertson Barger. She married Claude W. Adkisson on Feb. 27, 1935, in Farmington, who preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2001. She taught in rural schools and worked at Sheaffer Pen Company. She was one of the oldest members of the Sharon Presbyterian Church where she served as organist and was a Sunday School teacher. She belonged to the Presbyterian Women's Organization and was member of the Kings Daughters. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Merle and his wife Marilyn Adkisson of Donnellson; two daughters, Janet and her husband Jerry Mills of Mt. Pleasant, and Dolores and her husband Steve Benner of Montrose; and 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter in infancy, Nancy Ann; a brother, Lisle Barger; and a sister, Birdie Smith.
