Maurice Craig Dailey
MAURICE CRAIG DAILEY
Colorado Springs, Colo.
Maurice Craig Dailey, 91, died April 20, 2020, of COVID-19 in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was born Oct. 1, 1928 in Batavia, Iowa, to George and June Dailey. He married Lieselotte "Lilo" Eichler on Oct. 1, 1949, in Koblenz, Germany. Their son Melvin Dailey was born in 1951 in Rottbitze, Germany.
Maurice enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1946 and served three years in Germany in Railroad Traffic Mgmt. and participated in the Berlin Airlift (June 1948 - May 1949). After his Honorable Discharge in May 1949, he worked for a military contractor in Germany for five years, before returning to Fairfield, Iowa. He was able to bring his wife and son to the United States in 1956.
While living in Fairfield, Maurice worked on the Chicago to Omaha route for the Rail Road Post Office, until the RRPO was replaced with regional centers in 1967. The family moved to Denver, Colo., where he worked for the USPS.
Maurice lived a good life and was a great man, survived by his granddaughter, Crystal (Curtis) Wright of Colorado Springs, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Curtis Jr. and Kira Wright and Liam Dailey; brother, Floyd (Myrintha) Dailey of Ottumwa; nephew, Randal (Sue) Dailey of Ottumwa; and niece, Joleen Fitzgerald of Laguna Woods, Calif.
Preceded in death by his wife, Lilo, in 2018; son, Melvin, in 1999; and grandson, Shawn Dailey, in 2012.
Interment at Fort Logan National Cemetary in Denver, Colo.
