Maurice Russell Benn

Maurice Russell Benn, 77, of the Bloomfield Care Center died at 8:25 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2000, at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, at the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 28 at the Behner Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church in Fairfield.

Mr. Benn was born Jan. 28, 1923, near Farson, the son of Abram Alexander and Charlotte Irwin Benn. He married Marjorie Jean Manley on March 31, 1945 in Muscatine. He had lived most of his life in the Fairfield community until moving to Mt. Pleasant in Feb. 1993. He was a graduate of the Fairfield High School, class of 1941. He was a farmer in the Lockridge Township in Jefferson County. He was employed at A.C.C.O. Co. in Fairfield. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda Hourihan of Mt. Pleasant, Margaret Stephens of Bloomfield, Patricia Campbell of Ames, Mary Johnson of Story City; one sister, Doris Waters of Mesa, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife.
