Maxine Julia Burgess

Maxine Julia Burgess, 77, of Keokuk, formerly of Alexandria, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

      The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, Mo., with Brother Dan Steinbeck officiating. Burial will be in the Frazee Cemetery. A memorial has been established.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Linda Burgess, Mary McGee and Annie Sue VerMeesch, all of Keokuk; three sons, Charles Stroud of Davenport, and Elmer Ray Burgess and Richard Burgess, both of Alexandria; three stepsons, Danny, Elmer and Howard and John Burgess, all of Keokuk; a stepdaughter, Sally Bennett of Keokuk; a sister, Sarah Davis of Pekin, Ill.; a brother, John Walker of Rome; 65 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

      She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
