Mayme Hotz

LONE TREE ? Mayme Leona Hotz, 95, of Lone Tree, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, in Pioneer Park in Lone Tree.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Following committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship was held at the Lone Tree American Legion. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hotz was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Washington County, the daughter of Albert and Bessie Anna (Wingler) Weber. She married Ernest J. Hotz on Sept. 18, 1940, in Iowa City.

She farmed her entire life with her husband until his death. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and cooking; but most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.

Surviving are two children, Russell D. Hotz and wife Doris of Lone Tree, and Beverlyn K. Bontrager of Lone Tree; one son-in-law, Ronald J. See of Solon; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Ella Kiefer of Crown Point, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Patricia Ann See; one grandson; and two sisters, Blanche Prybil, and Lila Barta.
