Melba Louise (Schulz) Koontz Morrow, 96, formerly of Fairfield and surrounding area, died Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at the Bridges At Ankeny Nursing Facility, Ankeny, IA.

Melba was born October 21, 1925, in Stockport, IA, to John Carl and Hazel Julia (Fickel) Schulz. She

graduated from Stockport High School in 1943. Melba married Howard Dean Koontz in January 1944 in Fairfield. She later married Howard R. Morrow of Fairfield. She was involved in farming operations in Jefferson County and worked for several years at the Jefferson County Soil Conservation Service. She later operated a beauty shop in rural Fairfield and Stockport.

Melba is survived by one son, Ron Koontz (Diana) of Polk City, IA; and one sister, Karen Eighmey, Toledo, OH. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Kathy Hines (Christian) and Stephen Koontz (Alexa); and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and eight brothers and sisters.
