Melvin Francis Barry

      Melvin Francis Barry, 76, of New London, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at his home in New London.

      The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29 at Elliott Chapel in New London, with the Rev. Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28 at the chapel with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Amy and her husband Mike Overton and Sara and her husband David Francy, all of Mt. Pleasant; and seven grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Melba Barry; an infant brother, Larry Barry; and two half brothers, Jim Barry and LaVerne "Pete" Peterson.
