Merlin Edwin Gibson

      Merlin Edwin Gibson, 92, formerly of Keota, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at his home in Williamsburg, following a brief illness.

      Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 24, at the English River Church of the Brethren, near South English, with the Rev. Beth Miller and the Rev. A.J. Gibson officiating. A private family burial at the church cemetery will precede the memorial service. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Memorials will be distributed to Iowa City Hospice, English River Church of the Brethren, and International Evangel Herald.

      Mr. Gibson was born on May 8, 1912, in South English, to Calvin and Minnie (Brower) Gibson. On Dec. 15, 1937, he married Lois Elizabeth Jasper in South English. She preceded him in death in 1990. On Aug. 17, 1991, he married Ellen Pickeral in Keota.
