Michael Carpenter
Michael Carpenter, 33, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident east of Mt. Pleasant on US-34.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Jeffrey Crawford officiating. Arrangements are being made by the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. The body will be cremated following the service with inurnment to be held at a later date. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Baptist Church with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. Memorials have been established to the Make a Wish Foundation.
Mr. Carpenter was born May 30, 1967, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of James Carpenter and Ilene Feehan Duncan. He married Wendy Sue MacNaughton on April 18, 1992 in Leesville, La. He graduated from Wapello High School in 1985, enlisted in the Army in 1984, and served eight years in Honduras, Panama, and the Desert Storm campaign in Iraq. He had attained the rank of Sergeant when he finished his term of service. He was an independent truck driver with Quality Carriers of Summit, Ill., and attended Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; son Justin Douglas Villa of Mt. Pleasant; his mother, Ilene Duncan, of Mt. Pleasant; his father, James Carpenter, of Calona, Ill.; his brother, Jimmy Carpenter of Danville; his sister Crystal Carpenter of Mt. Pleasant; grandparents Rodney and Katie Feehan of Salem; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Hazel Feehan, grandparents Stace and Laura Carpenter, and a brother and sister in infancy.
