Michael J. Zehr, age 62, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Washington County Hospital following a sudden illness.

The family will be present at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2023, to celebrate Mike’s life. Mike was born April 18, 1961, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Eugene L. and Deidre (Miller) Zehr. He graduated from Washington High School in 1979. Following graduation, Mike apprenticed with his dad to become a Certified Master Electrician. Mike worked for the family business, Washington Electric of 53 years, much of his adult life and advanced to Vice President of the business. He previously worked as a Projectionist for the Washington State Theater while he was in high school.

Mike loved his family, especially his grandson, Easton, and enjoyed spending time with them. He especially enjoyed the trips he took with his grandson to get fireworks and then shooting them off. He liked going to the farm, taking care of the cows, watching birds and watching the stars. Mike was an animal lover and enjoyed the company of his cat, Piper.

He is survived by his daughter, Adrienne Gorsch and husband Derek of Wellman, Iowa; grandson, Easton Gorsch; mom, Deidre Zehr of Washington, Iowa; brother, Chris Zehr and wife Audrey of Washington, Iowa; sister, Andrea Rich and husband Loren of Wayland, Iowa; and three nephews and one niece: Ryan Zehr, KC Rich, Landon Rich and wife Samantha, and Emily Zehr.

Mike was preceded in death by his father in 2013 and one brother, Samuel in 2021.
