Michael L. Kaufman

Michael L. Kaufman, 51, of Wayland, died Wednesday Jan. 9, at Henry County Health Center following a five-year battle with cancer.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday, Jan. 11, at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, Jan. 12, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Lowe officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, with military honors conducted by Washington American Legion Post #29.

He was born June 7, 1956, in Washington, the son of Raymond and Luella Alliman Kaufman. On April 30, 1976, he married Donna Peiffer in Riverside, Calif.

A graduate of WACO High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force. After returning to Iowa, he worked at the Goodyear Rubber and Tire Company in Mt. Pleasant. He last worked at Veyance Tech Incorporated in Mt. Pleasant.

He is survived by his wife; his mother and stepfather Roy Miller of Wayland; his father and stepmother Bonnie Kaufman of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Joseph Kaufman and Michael "Bubba" Kaufman and his wife Abbe, all of Wayland; three brothers, Terry Kaufman and his wife Bonnie of Fairfield, Kenny Kaufman and his wife Diana and Dennis Kaufman, all of Wayland; two sisters, Sherry Iccarino-Kaufman of Davenport and Lynne Reighard and her husband Rick of Topeka, Kan.; four half-sisters, Lori, Crystal, Carmen, and Holly; and one grandson.

His brother Danny Kaufman and three grandparents preceded him in death.
