Mickie M. Perian, age 65, of Pacific Junction, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, in Council Bluffs, following an extended illness.
Funeral Services were held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 28, 2024, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Tim Miller officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, rural Ladora with military honors conducted by the Air Force Honor Guard and Marengo American Legion Post 76. The family received friends from 4 to 6 P.M. on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Kloster Funeral Home, in Marengo. Memorials and cards may be sent to Mickie’s family, in care of Kloster Funeral Home, 298 W Washington St., Marengo, Iowa 52301.
Mickie is survived by her daughter Christina Reese of Arkansas; her brothers Rickie Riley (Diane) of Watkins, and Mark Riley (Julie) of Arizona; nieces and nephews, Brittany Riley (Dan Cook) of Deep River, Charity Cecak (Kevin) of Cedar Rapids, Christopher Riley (Belinda) of Marengo, Eric Riley (Marissa) of Norway, Daniel Riley (Ashlyn) of Bondurant, Elizabeth Starits of Watkins, and Brady Riley of Iowa City; and special great-nieces and -nephews, Gage Riley, Hunter Cook, Alexis Kibbee, and Tristian Starits, along with many other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew Joe Starits, and grandparents, Harry and Clara Haman Hawkins, and Garton and Edith Goss Riley.
Mickie Marie Riley was born August 7, 1959 in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Gilbert Riley and Evelyn Hawkins Riley. She attended the Cedar Rapids schools, graduating from Jefferson High School. Mickie served in the U.S. Air Force, from 1978 to December 1979, training as a jet engine technician. When she returned home, she worked as a contractor and designed buildings as a partner with KMA Steel, in Albia, IA. In her free time Mickie could be found working on her ceramics, woodworking, or oil painting on canvas. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and then cooking and canning the fruits of her labor. She especially loved spending time with her family.
