Mildred Beckler

MOUNT PLEASANT ? Mildred Beckler, 84, of Noble, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at her home.

Visitation was held from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, at Bethel Mennonite Church north of Wayland. Funeral services began at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 2, at Bethel Mennonite Church with the Rev. Curt Kuhns officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to the family for a memorial to be determined at a later date. Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mount Pleasant is assisting the family.

Mrs. Beckler was born Feb. 20, 1932, in rural Wayland, the daughter of Jacob ?Jake? and Mayme (Leichty) Unternahrer. She married Delmar F. Beckler on Sept. 21, 1952, at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.

She was a 1950 graduate of Wayland High School. Family was her highest priority, as she doted on her grandchildren. She cleaned homes and apartments in Mount Pleasant and worked at Metromail. For more than 20 years she worked at Crane Manufacturing in Washington before retiring in the late 1980s. She was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cross stitching, singing, and doing word-find puzzles.

Surviving are four children, Ardith Frees and husband Tom of Riverside, Dean Beckler and wife Crystal of Crawfordsville, Sharon Blakley and husband Steve of Wayland, and Beverly Elmore of Albia; a special son of the heart, Mark McKinney of Los Angeles, California; six siblings, Daniel Unternahrer and wife Annabelle of Shipshewana, Indiana, Harold Unternahrer of Wayland, John Unternahrer and wife Phianna of Wayland, Clarence Unternahrer and wife Linda of Ainsworth, Edna Beckler of Kalispell, Montana, and Ruth Kaufman of Lebanon, Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Martha Unternahrer Marsh of Wayland, and Naomi Roth of Albany, Oregon; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on May 1, 2016; one son, Duane Beckler; two brothers, Ralph Unternahrer, and Edward Unternahrer, who died in infancy; and one son-in-law, Daniel Elmore.
