Mildred Lillian Moore
Mildred Lillian Moore, 92, of Ft. Madison and formerly of Danville, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at the Kensington in Ft. Madison.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, at Long Creek United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, at Elliott Chapel in New London, with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to PAW Animal Shelter of Ft. Madison or Long Creek United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Moore was born June 6, 1908, near Kingston, the daughter of Benjamin Schmeiser and Mary Elizabeth Taeger. She married Eugene Gibson Moore on February 15, 1936, in Galesburg, Ill.
A homemaker who helped with the family farm, she attended Fairview School near Kingston and was a graduate of Burlington School of Business. She was a member of Long Creek United Methodist Church, she also attended Lakeview Methodist Church while wintering in Sun City, Ariz. She was a member of Long Creek United Methodist Women, Long Creek Birthday Club, the Des Moines County Extension Council, and Naomi Circle of United Methodist Women in Sun City, Ariz. She was also a former 4-H Club leader and superintendent of the Open Class Home Economics Division at the Des Moines County Fair.
Survivors include a son, Paul Moore of Sun City, Ariz.; two daughters, Mary Moore of Ft. Madison and Janet Moore-Ecker of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Edyth Bresch of Burlington,; two brothers, Lloyd Schmeiser of Burlington and Myron Schmeiser of Winfield; five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.
