Mildred R. Barker

Mildred R. Barker, 91, of Keosauqua, formerly of Fort Madison and Douds, died at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren Hospice in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, with the Rev. Ann Donat officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the family present from 6-7:30 p.m.

Memorials to Christ United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 1004 W. Burlington Ave., Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. Barker was born April 17, 1920, a mile north of Sharon Presbyterian Church, the daughter of Ralph and Carrie Moore Compton. She married Edmund F. Daugherty Oct. 17, 1951, at First Methodist Church in Fort Madison. He died in 1964. She married Ellis D. Barker, May 2, 1987, at First Methodist Church in Fort Madison. He died Sept. 11, 2005.

Survivors include one son-in-law, Jeffrey Chicoine of Greensboro, N.C.; three grandchildren; and one stepdaughter, Linda Lite and husband Robert of Fairfield Bay, Ark.
