Mildred Mae Woodsmall, 92, of Burlington, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, at her son Doug's home in Burlington.

She was born April 17, 1927, in Mount Pleasant to Walter B. and Etta Marie Foster Milks. On Aug. 6, 1945, she married Denzel LeRoy "Ike" Woodsmall in Mount Pleasant. He died Nov. 1, 1997.

She attended Mount Pleasant schools and was of the Baptist faith. She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing, traveling on bus trips, visiting Florida and spending time with her grandchildren. For the last 16 years, Mildred made her home with Doug and Cyndy, where her daughter, Glenda, and her two granddaughters, Faith and Elizabeth, who she helped raise, took care of her.

Survivors include her nine children, Glenda Woodsmall of Burlington, Doug (Cyndy) Woodsmall of Burlington, Dennis Woodsmall of Keswick, Gary David Woodsmall of Monroe, Dale (Anetia) Woodsmall of Washington, Donnie Woodsmall of Sigourney, Delbert (JoAnn) Woodsmall of Washington, Glen (Rhonda) Woodsmall of Salem and Danny Woodsmall of Arkansas; 126 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Denzel; her parents; one sister, Opal Cantril; and four brothers, Gilbert Milks, Kenny Milks, Clifford Milks and James Milks.

The funeral service for Mrs. Woodsmall will be at

1 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel in New London with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Burial will follow at Burge Cemetery, New London. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
