Moses Shakeer Abdool, 59, of Iowa City, passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2019, at Chatham Oaks in Iowa City. Celebration of life services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Jones & Eden Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Interment will be private. Moses was born Aug. 8, 1960, in Guyana, South America, the son of Shakeer and Geanna Abdool. He attended school in Guyana, South America. Moses moved to the United States 25 years ago. He lived in New York City and moved to Washington in 1991. Moses worked as a school teacher and field foreman. He liked to read and write and enjoyed visiting with and helping people.

He is survived by his sister, Margaret Kisten and husband Frank of England; sister, Mavis Shiwdhan and husband Bholanauth of Musctaine; sister, Martha Meyer of Muscatine; sister, Marjorie Fisher and husband John of Washington, Iowa; sister, Mary Abdool and husband Rakesh Lauchman of Schenectady, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Martin and Marvin Abdool.
