Muriel Joan Channel, 88, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Parkview Care Center, Fairfield.

Visitation will be 4-7 PM Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Behner Funeral Home, Fairfield. Funeral service will be 10 AM, Friday, February 24, at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor George King officiating. Burial will follow the service at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary.

Muriel was born July 28, 1934, in Sully, Iowa, to Bert and Gertrude (Van der Pol) Renaud. She graduated from Sully High School in 1952, attended Iowa Teachers’ College, and taught school in New Sharon, IA, from 1957-1969. She married Norman Channel on August 3, 1957.

Muriel is survived by two sons, Rev. Brian (Tasha) Channel, Vinton, IA, and Kim (Pamela) Butler-Channel, Sheybogan, WI; four granddaughters, Emily (Devin) Green, Cedar Rapids; Deidre (JD) Hileman, Rockford, IL; Delaney (Alex) Vaughn, Sheboygan, WI; and Emery Butler-Channel, Sheboygan, WI; one great-granddaughter, Jazmin Green, Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman, and brother Verlan Renaud.
