Nancy Gail Moyer was born on Oct. 22, 1934, in Toledo, Iowa, to Hanners and Pearl Gray Lorenzen. She attended school in Toledo, where she graduated with the class of 1952. Shortly after graduation she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert Moyer. They began their journey as husband and wife on Sept. 4, 1953. This was the first chapter in a story that lasted over 68 years. Together they became the loving parents of four children, Kim, Lisa, Joe and Todd.
Nancy loved being a wife and mother and took care of whatever was needed. She was a gifted seamstress, making many of the girls' clothes and patching what was needed for the boys and Robert.
In 1970, the family moved to Stockport, Iowa, where Nancy began her career with State Central Bank in Stockport. She was a dedicated employee for over 30 years until her retirement in 1999. In 2014, Nancy and Robert moved to their current home in Keosauqua.
Nancy loved music and dancing. She enjoyed playing the piano and listening to big band music. When she had quiet time to herself, she enjoyed sitting down with a good book or working on a crossword. Above all, she loved her family. As she watched her family grow with the addition of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she made sure to cherish every moment spent with them. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.
Left to share her story are her husband, Robert Moyer of Keosauqua, Iowa; four children, Kim (Ab) Manning of East Lancing, Mich., Lisa (Randy) Bentzinger of Keosauqua, Iowa, Joe (Shelley) Moyer of Burlington, Iowa, and Todd (Karen) Moyer of Wilton, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Lindsay (Ben) Parker, Bryant Manning, Hayley (Kirby) Cass, Carly (Brandon) Smith, Marshall (Clara) Moyer, Madison (Taylor) Tucker, Michael Moyer and Christopher Moyer; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marion Simmonds, Ora Mae Bro and Ann (Jerry) Hendricks; as well as many extended family and friends.
