Nancy K. Griffin, 83, of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Nancy was born Oct. 31, 1938, in Hillsboro, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd "Bud" and June (Pratt) Barnett. Nancy was united in marriage to Earl E. Griffin on June 18, 1960, on Staten Island, N.Y. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1988. She was a cook at Mount Pleasant Memorial Hospital, Mental Health Institute and later for Harmony School District. Nancy served as the Hillsboro City Clerk for 47 years retiring in 2019, along with serving on the Hillsboro Cemetery Board for 30 years, and was a member of various different clubs.

She is survived by her daughter, Penny Griffin of Hillsboro.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at the Hillsboro Cemetery with Pastor Dave Glavin officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 18, to sign the register at Murphy Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant. The family will not be present. Memorials may be directed to the Hillsboro Fire and Rescue Department in her memory. Following the graveside service, there will be a time of food and fellowship at the Hillsboro Community Building.
