The former Nancy Beatty was born Sept. 17, 1936, in Moline, the daughter of Hugh and Mary (VanMelkebeke) Beatty. She married Thomas R."Moose" Maere on July 4, 1958, in Moline. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2014, one day shy of celebrating 56 years of marriage.
Reared in Catholic faith, she attended Sacred Heart School and Alleman High School. She deeply cared for the sanctity of life. She enjoyed making quilts and blankets for family, friends, and donated to new mothers she didn't even know. She loved to play cards and games with her friends.
Both parents were very proud of every member of their extended family and were humbled by the love and care that was returned to them in their senior years of life.
Survivors include her children, Starlette (Greg) Bezdek, Bart (Kathleen) Maere, Kelly (Brent) Trout, Curtis (Michelle) Maere, Bret (Kelli) Maere, Tori (Scott) Lumberg, Todd (Nicole) Maere and Tom (Janine) Maere; 21 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brothers, Richard (Therese) Beatty and James (Margo) Beatty.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Eric Dippel and staff for the compassionate care they gave over many years.
