Naomi Ruth Tyer

Naomi Ruth Tyer, 74, of Washington, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, in Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a battle with breast cancer.

    A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at the First Baptist Church in Washington with the Rev. Darryl Carr officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Breast Cancer Research Foundation or a general memorial.

    Mrs. Tyer was born March 13, 1936, in Minburn, the daughter of Sam and Angie (Harrison) Seiders. She married Jerry A. Tyer on Feb. 25, 1955, at the First Christian Church in Perry.
