Nedra R. Schrock

KALONA ? Nedra Ruth Schrock, 86, of Kalona, died Thursday, June 1, 2017, in the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 8, at the Kalona Mennonite Church in Kalona with the Rev. Scott Swartzendruber and the Rev. Josh Lundberg officiating. Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona, where the family will greet friends from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa Mennonite School. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Schrock was born May 21, 1931, in rural Kalona, the daughter of Thomas and Ruth (Brenneman) Miller. She married Leo Schrock on Oct. 2, 1965, at the East Union Mennonite Church.

She graduated from Iowa Mennonite School in 1949. She lived in the Kalona community all of her life, where she worked as an accountant and owned Schrock?s Tax Service. She was a charter member of the Kalona Mennonite Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading a good book, and attending her sons? and grandchildren?s many sports activities.

Surviving are her husband, Leo, of Kalona; one son, Leon Schrock and wife Robin of Parnell; one daughter-in-law, Rhonda Schrock of Hesston, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; and one brother, Ned Miller and wife Maggie of Windsor Heights.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John; one sister, Jean Thomas; and two brothers, Lynn Miller, and Roger Miller.
