Nelle Ellen Brown

      Nelle Ellen Brown, 86, of Iowa City, formerly of Washington, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, in her residence following complications from a stroke.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, in the Jones-Eden Funeral home in Washington with the Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Interment will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday in the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the United Presbyterian Church Library or to the Washington Public Library.

      Mrs. Brown was born Jan. 27, 1922, in Washington, the daughter of Orin A. and Gertrude (Messenger) Wallace. She married Edsall D. Brown on July 12, 1942 in Washington.
