Nelle M. Vandersnick

Nelle Marie Vandersnick, 102, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, Dec. 24, at Arbor Court.

Her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

She was born May 9, 1905, in Wayland, the daughter of John and Nellie Bain Schroll. On Sept. 17, 1924, she married Frank Sylvester Vandersnick.

She was a lifelong resident of Henry County. In her early years, she worked as a dental and medical assistant for various area dentists and physicians. After her marriage, she enjoyed being a homemaker. She also assisted in the food preparation for her daughter LaFaune's restaurant, Van's Lunch. She also worked for many years as a coordinator for the Henry County Animal Rescue Organization.

She is survived by two daughters, Beverlee Hagerman of Cedar Rapids and Juanita Allender of Peoria, Ill.; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Her parents, husband, daughters LaFaune Vandersnick and JoAnne Frost, sisters Goldie Christner and Emma Allender, brothers Espy Schroll and Alfred Schroll, and one granddaughter preceded her in death.
