Nellie Magdalena Christner

      KALONA - Nellie Magdalena Christner, 78, of Washington died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, in Mercy Hospital in Iowa City from complications of a heart attack.

      Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, in the Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Memorials may be made to the Marion Avenue Baptist Church.

      Mrs. Christner was born May 14, 1929, in Falkenstein, Poland, the daughter of Rudolf and Christine (Schweitzer) Bachmann. She married John L. Christner on June 28, 1953, in the East Union Mennonite Church near Kalona.
