Nellie R. Lloyd, age 95, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the House of the Dove hospice home in Marshfield.

A gathering to celebrate Nell’s life will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Wildwood Regency in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa, at a later date. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Nellie was born on August 26, 1930, in Brighton, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde and Lena (Smith) Courtney. She attended country school in Washington County, Iowa. Nell was very proud to receive her GED in February of 1986 at the age of 56. She was united in marriage to Marion D. Miller in September of 1946.

Nell worked on the family farm and later became a Home Health Aide Nurse. Following her divorce to Marion, she worked as a nurse at the Washington County Hospital. She was later married to John M. Lloyd in January of 1973. Nell worked in different retail stores in Washington, Texas and Florida. John taught Nell to golf and in 1977 she was the runner up in the club tournament at the Washington Golf and Country Club.

Nell and John started wintering in Florida in the late 1970’s. In the early 1980’s they moved to Cape Coral, Florida, to live year round. They later lived in Lewisville, Texas, to be closer to Nell’s family. The couple moved back to Winter Haven, Florida, where they lived at Lakeside Ranch. Nell was on the Executive Board for eight years and was also a Certified Deputy for Lakeside Ranch and Fairview Park from 2012 until 2020. She enjoyed meeting and socializing with many people.

After John passed away, Nell met Bill Dieringer of Marshfield, Wisconsin. They eventually moved to Marshfield to be close to Bill’s family and a family friend of 25 years.

She is survived by her son, Duane Miller of Washington, Iowa; son, Robert (Bev) Miller of Riverside, Iowa; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and brother, Ray Courtney of Lewisville, Texas.

Nellie was preceded in death by her father in 1981; mother in 1995; daughter, Diane in 1964; daughter, Bert in 2022; and her siblings: Clarice, Earl, Helen, Doris, Ivan, Lloyd, Ray, and Orville.
