Nicholas Leo Reed

      Nicholas Leo Reed, age 49, of Washington, died Monday, March 3, 2008 at his home following a courageous 5 month battle with colon cancer.

      Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11:00 am Friday March 7, 2008 at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Ed O'Melia officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm Thursday at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home and from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at St. James Catholic Church where the family will receive friends. Prayer services will be held 8:00 pm Thursday at the St. James Catholic Church. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Keota at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established at the Washington High School for an FFA student specializing in farm management.       Nick was born April 11, 1958 in Washington, Iowa the son of Cletus and Audrey (Vittetoe) Reed. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1976 and attended Muscatine Community College where he received his Associate of Arts degree in Farm Management and excelled in soil conservation. He was united in marriage to Lory B. Ohs on October 30, 2007 in Washington, Iowa.
