Norma Jean Alter November 27, 1924 - October 30, 2003

Norma Jean Alter, 78, of Burlington, formerly of Morning Sun and Mt. Pleasant, died at 2:38 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 3 at the First United Methodist Church in Burlington, with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Tevis officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4 in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2 at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, with family present from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Memorials have been established for Morning Sun and Burlington Libraries for large print books.

      Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Nancy L. Lekin of Cedar Rapids, and Jacqueline R. and her husband John Plath of West Burlington; two sons, William E. and his wife Debbie Alter Jr., and Mark D. and his wife Jan Alter, all of Burlington; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a twin sister, Lorna M. Wilson of Burlington.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
