Norma Johnson

DONNELLSON ? Norma Jean Johnson, 83, of Donnellson, died Thursday, June 8, 2017, in the Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison.

Memorial services were held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, June 11, at the Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with the Rev. Dennis Hoffman officiating. Burial was at the Charleston Cemetery in rural Charleston. Visitation with the family was held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in her memory to the Donnellson Library or Lee County Hospice.

Mrs. Johnson was born Nov. 25, 1933, in New Boston, the daughter of Carl Henry and Goldie B. (Anthony) Schiller. She married John Edward Johnson on Feb. 3, 1951, in Keokuk.

She worked at Sheller Globe for 35 years before retiring. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, her animals (especially her cats), family gatherings, reading (especially Westerns), and raising her family.

Surviving are one son, Randy Johnson of Donnellson; six daughters, Christy Agren and husband Robert of Orange Beach, Alabama, Cindy Johnson of Argyle, Kathy Billman and husband Coe of Fort Madison, Wendy Walljasper and husband Wendel of Donnellson, Gayle Edwards and husband Jim of Washington, and Julie Pilcher and husband LeRoy of Donnellson; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leroy Schiller and wife Clara of Tucson, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, on Sept. 27, 2010; one son, Douglas Van Johnson; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
