KALONA ? Norma Rose Southwick, 92, of Kalona died Saturday, March 25, 2017, in the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
A visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 30, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Graveside services will follow at 11 a.m., Thursday at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for the Pleasantview Home.
Mrs. Southwick was born March 31, 1924, at her parents? home in rural Riverside. She was the daughter of Carl and Mamie (Knotek) Kos. She married Robert E. Southwick on Dec. 4, 1947, in Kalona.
She grew up in rural Riverside and graduated from Riverside High School and from the University of Iowa in 1946. She and her husband worked and operated the Kalona roller rink and bowling alley after their marriage. Later they owned and operated The Gambles Hardware store in Kalona for 26 years until their retirement in 1984. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, playing euchre, visiting the casinos, and the Hawkeyes.
Surviving are two sons, Larry and wife Mary Jo of Davenport, and Loren and wife Karla of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two brothers, Kenneth, and Dale.
