Norman L. Wacker, 86, of Ainsworth, IA passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
He was born January 13, 1939 in Rochester, MN the son of Fred and Alma Rueb Wacker. He was from a family of fifteen children.
Norman worked in the restaurant industry for many years as a chef at the Burlington Pzazz, Starlight Gardens and the Burlington Country Club. In the early 1990’s, Norman opened Norm’s Shamrock in Ainsworth, IA, which he owned and operated for seventeen years, which became famous for his delicious Sour Kraut Soup.
He is survived by two daughters, Julie Meierotto (Marty) of West Point, IA and Karla Nipper (Dennis) of Murfreesboro, TN two sons, Jon Wacker of Donnellson, IA and Gary Van Binsbergen (Sherry) of Clarksville, MN. He is also survived by three sisters, Sheryl Wacker Theel, Dorriane Fieck and Virginia Niditary, and one brother, Bob Wacker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Marcia Ball Slutts, one grandson, Jesse Banner Wacker, and ten siblings.
Norman was a dog lover. Always enjoyed the company of his pet dog.
