COLUMBUS JUNCTION ? Olin Mitchell Jennings, 84, of Columbus Junction, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, in Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Burial will be in the Fulton Cairo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 26, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Washington County Hospice.
Mr. Jennings was born on March 27, 1931, in Columbus Junction, the son of Donald Dean and Grace Jane (Smith) Jennings. He married Norma Faith Bender on June 16, 1951, in Cairo, Iowa.
He proudly served his country in the Army. He worked his farm for 32 years, raised Simmental cattle, worked maintenance at Colonial Manor Care Center for many years, and provided lawn care service for many people. He was a member of the American Legion and the Odd Fellows, was an outstanding young farmer, and was a Louisa District Soil Conservation commissioner for more than 30 years. He loved animals of all kinds, and enjoyed having coffee at the coffee shop and helping others throughout the community. But most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Norma Jennings of Columbus Junction; five children, Marilyn Harms of Iowa Falls, Betty Lenz and husband Delbert of Lone Tree, Linda Hora and husband Rick of West Liberty, Janice Williams and husband Steve of Crawfordsville, and Alan Jennings and wife Melinda of Longview, Texas; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three sisters, Dixie Miller of Topeka, Kansas, June Wiley of Muscatine, and Odena Winter of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Warren, Monroe, and Doyce.
