Oliver O. Yutzy, 86, of Goshen, IN, died at 4:44 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Goshen Health Hospital. He was born on June 1, 1934 in Hutchinson, KS, to Oliver J. and Elta (Miller) Yutzy. On October 24, 1953 in Kalona, IA, he married Miriam Swartzendruber; she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are children, Karen (Ron) Mast, Mark (Susan) Yutzy, both of Wayland, IA, Gordon (Donna) Yutzy of Eugene, OR, Barbara (Randall) Miller of Goshen; nine grandchildren, Colette Stotts of Ogden, IA, Kristen Mast of San Antonio, TX, Travis (Lindsay Nance) Yutzy of Brooklyn, NY, Laurel (Michael) Swartzendruber of Wayland, IA, Brittany (Ross) Davison of Wayland, IA, Conrad (Kalen) Yutzy of Kalona, IA, Trevor Miller of Mishawaka, IN, Braden Miller of Indianapolis, IN, Chelsea Miller of Goshen, IN; 11 great-grandchildren; half-brother, Roger (Sherri) Burkholder of Queen Creek, AZ; two stepbrothers, Stanley Burkholder of Washington, IA, Donald Burkholder of Lathrop, MO; two stepsisters, Opal Reschly of Crawfordville, IA, and Mary Jane (Omer) Troyer of Northport, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jon Michael Yutzy; grandson, Matthew Paul Mast; brother, Ernest Yutzy; stepfather, Chris Burkholder; two stepbrothers, Daniel and John Burkholder; sister-in-law, Marilyn Yutzy; two stepsisters-in-law, Helen Burkholder and Elsie Burkholder; and stepbrother-in-law, Marion Reschly.
Oliver was a member of Clinton Frame Church and a graduate of Iowa Mennonite School. He served in 1W service in Lancaster, PA and spent six years farming. Oliver and his wife served in Kirksville, MO leading a Sunday School at Decker Chapel. After serving in Kirksville, he then graduated from Hesston College. Oliver pastored churches at Lyon Street Mennonite Church, Hannibal, MO; Bethel Mennonite Church, Wayland, IA; and Providence Mennonite Church, Montgomery, IN. While pastoring in Hannibal, he worked at Beth Haven Nursing Home as an Operations Manager/Accountant. He also worked as an Operations Manager at Menno-Hof, Shipshewana, IN for 15 years.
Oliver loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27 at Clinton Frame Church, 63846 CR 35, Goshen, IN. The family will hold a private graveside service prior to the 2:00 p.m. Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, February 28, also at the church. Services will be conducted by Pastors Sebastiano Rosa and Linda Miller and a written contribution from Pastor Terry Diener. Burial will be in Clinton Frame Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Menno-Hof. Anyone attending the services is encouraged to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
