Omar Conkity

KEOTA ? Omar Conkity, 79, of Harper, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, following a brief illness.

    Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating.  Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries-St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.  A general memorial fund has been established.

    Mr. Conkity was born May 12, 1929, in Harper, the son of Frank and Rose Elizabeth (Bohr) Conkity.  He married Marie Hladik on July 3, 1954, in Spokane, Wash.  She preceded him in death in 1975.  He married Betty Jane Hammes on Aug. 12, 1977, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in rural Harper.
