Opal Blanche Slemmons

      Opal Blanche Slemmons, 95, of Covington, La., formerly of West Chester, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, in Forest Manor Nursing Home in Covington.

      Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, in the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in West Chester Cemetery in West Chester. Memorials may be made to the West Chester United Methodist Church.

      Mrs. Slemmons was born Feb. 12, 1912, in Lone Tree, the daughter of Samuel Dexter and Minnie May (Cox) Miller. She married Edgar Leech Slemmons on March 24, 1934, in Cedar Rapids.
