Opal H. Hult, 92, of Swedesburg, died Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington following a short illness.
Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Beatty Funeral Home of Washington, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington, with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Swedesburg Lutheran Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Marion Avenue Baptist Church.
She was born Nov. 7, 1915 in Swedesburg, the daughter of Eddie and Pearly Hixson Seberg. On June 5, 1937, she married Frederick T. Hult, in Swedesburg.
She was an active member of the Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington. She did the bulletin board ministry for 25 years at the church. As a young girl she was a pianist at the Finley Chapel and organist at Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church and Independent Bible Church in Wayland. She enjoyed decorating for ladies' conferences, banquets, and plays, especially the Christmas pageant. She traveled extensively and helped design jewelry in the lapidary business with her husband.
She is survived by three daughters, Yvonne Johnson and her husband Donald of Cambridge, Ill., Shirley Coberley and her husband Dennis of Wayland and Rebecca Henneberger and her husband William of Alvarado, Texas; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
Her parents, husband and a great-grandson preceded her in death.
