Orlie Finley
Orlie Dean Finley, 82, formerly of Iowa City died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Silver Ridge Village in Bullhead City, Ariz. following a short illness.
A private family service will be held. His body has been cremated. Burial of his cremains will be in the River Junction Cemetery near Lone Tree. Memorials can be made to Bullhead City, Arizona Hospice or Camp Courageous of Iowa and may be forwarded to the family at their homes. Arrangements are made by Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City.
Mr. Finley was born Oct. 6, 1917, in Corydon, the son of George and Minnie Finley. He married Therese Dimpfl on Jan. 15, 1948, in Frankfort, Germany. He was a carpenter for more than 20 years at the University of Iowa, retiring in 1982. He had been a resident of Iowa City for 45 years, moving to Arizona in 1984. He served in the United States Army during WWII and was a Boy Scout leader.
Survivors include his wife of Bullhead City, Ariz.; two daughters, Cathrine Jaques of Mt. Pleasant and Christine Mattes of Solon; two sons, Charles Dean Finley of Coralville and Michael Finley of Iowa City; two sisters, Irene Whitmore of Millersburg and Juanita Cox of Red Bluff, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Pearl, Charles, Roy, and Lloyd; and one daughter, Betty Jean.
