Orville Patrick “Pat” McHugh, age 65, of Stockport, passed away at home Monday, May 8, 2023.

Pat was born February 22, 1958, in Sigourney, Iowa, to Roger Merle and Beatrice Lucille (Fair) McHugh. He married Sonya Knerr on August 26, 2002.

Pat graduated from Pekin High School Class of 1976 and while in high school he participated in track, wrestling, football and basketball. After school he served in the Army stationed at Fort Dix, Germany. He lived in Indiana for 30 years and moved back to Iowa 15 years ago. For 12 years, he worked at Dickey’s Transport, and the last 3 years as a Shag Drive Conagra for Shar Keys Transportation.

Pat was a member of the Packwood Christian Church and the Stockport American Legion. Some of Pat’s interests were hunting, fishing and grilling. Most important was spending time with his family.

Pat will be missed by his wife, Sonya McHugh of Stockport; his children, Jenna (Wayne) Green of Greensburg, IN, Jacob (Hanna) McHugh of Keosauqua, Misty (Zach Hurley) McHugh of Washington, Cody (Sammy) McHugh of Brighton and Addy McHugh of Stockport; 8 grandchildren, Harper Steward, Khloe McHugh, Evan McHugh, David McHugh, Londyn McHugh, Zoey Dewitt, Joseph Hurley and Sophia Hurley; his siblings, Roger Willis McHugh and Robie (Mike) Merrill; and nieces and nephew, Lisa Steen, Kerrie Steen and Carl Steen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Beatrice; brother, Larry James McHugh; and grandparents, Orville and Eulalia Fair and Jack and Eva McHugh.

Visitation for family and friends will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2023, at Behner Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 5:00 p.m. at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Frosty VanVoorst officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will be at a later date.
