Otis Ensminger
Otis Ensminger, 81, formerly of Salem, died at 2:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2001, at the Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.
The funeral service was 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Visitation was 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Salem East Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lewellyn Quaker Shrine.
Mr. Ensminger was born Feb. 25, 1919, in Stillwell, Ill., the son of W.J. ?Tom? and Ethel C. Wiedmeyer Ensminger. A 1938 Salem High School graduate, he spent two years in California after graduating. He later returned to Salem and was employed in cement work. He retired from the Henry County Maintenance Shop on Jan. 15, 1983, after 31 years of service. After many years of health problems he entered the Pleasant Manor Care Center on April 1, 1997.
Survivors include a brother, Otto Ensminger of Lombard, Ill.; three sisters, Almeta Simkin and Thelma Voss, both of Salem, and Esther and Emmet Agee of Yuma, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, a niece and three nephews.
