Jason Patrick Buttery, infant son of Mark and Kelly Buttery, was born still Thursday, May 8, 2008. A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ankeny, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Survivors include his parents and sister, Olivia. Kelly Ozimek Buttery is a former Fairfield resident.

Vilma C. Hanshew, 77, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, May 9, 2008, in her daughter's residence in Washington following a lengthy battle with cancer. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 11 in the St. James Catholic Church in Washington with the Rev. Ed O'Melia officiating. Interment will take place in the Elm Grove cemetery at a later date.
