Philip Edward Denney, Sr., 60, of Hickory, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at his residence.      Born on September 24, 1947 in Fairfield, Iowa, he was the son of Robert Edward Denney of Ellenboro, NC and the late Alma Jones Denney.      The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church, 237 2nd St., NW, Hickory, NC 28601, with the Rev. COLUMBUS JUNCTION-Evelyn Owens Traut, 93, of Washington, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at Washington County Hospital and Clinics in Washington.      Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Burial was in Cambrian Cemetery. Visitation preceded the services today. Memorials may be directed to the United Presbyterian Church in Cotter.      M

Michael Albert Warren, 60, of Iowa City, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, following a sudden illness, at his home.      Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington, with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, with military honors conducted by Washington American Legion Post No. 29. Visitation will begin at noon

Jessie Bell Teets, 94, of Washington, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, following declining health, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.      Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the Faith Baptist Church in Washington, with the Rev. CLINTON-Beverly Anne Murphy, 65, of Miles, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics.      Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Miles Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Bill Warholder officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today

Rex A. Whitcanack, 92, of Keosauqua, formerly of Nevada, Iowa, died at 11:10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.      A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.      Open visitation began at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where family will be present from 7-8 p.m.  

Lois Pearl Jones, 93, of Stockport, died today, Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, in Stockport.       A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Spencer Cemetery in Stockport, with the Rev. William H. Viebrock, 93, of New London, passed away Oct. 5 at Park Place Care Facility in Mt. Pleasant. The son of Henry and Dorothy Viebrock, Bill was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Dec. 12, 1913. In 1940, he married Maurine Schermerhorn of Brier Hill, N.Y., who predeceased him in 1999.Bill is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. After the war, he attended St. Johns University in Queens, N.Y., and

Alice Jean McCuen, 77, of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, Oct. 5, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mt. Pleasant after a long and courageous battle with cancer.Visitation for Alice will be held on Thursday, Oct. 11, from noon to 7:30 p.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant. "Bill" Eckhardt, 56, of Swisher, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, in the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City following a short illness.      Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with the Rev.
