John "Ralph" Fickel Jr., 71, of Fairfield, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, after a long illness.      A private family service will be held at a later date. Howard J. Scarlett, 43, of Keosauqua, died Thursday morning, Nov. 1, 2007, in the Van Buren County Hospital emergency room in Keosauqua.      A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in Thompson Cemetery in rural Bonaparte, with David Alexander officiating.      Family visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. Dr. Glen Barclay, a longtime Portland pediatrician, died Saturday evening, October 27, 2007, at age 58, due to heart complications.      Dr. Barclay was born in Washington, Iowa on July 5, 1949. He graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. degree in 1971 and earned his medical degree from UCLA in 1975.

Mary Annabel (Westphal) Koehler, 87, of the Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids, died there on Oct. 31, 2007, following an extended illness.
